COB light source (Chip On Board, chip on board) is an LED packaging technology in which multiple LED chips are directly packaged on the same substrate. Compared with traditional SMD (Surface Mount Technology) light sources, COB light sources have the following obvious advantages:
1.High luminous efficiency and low energy consumption: The COB light source has a high packaging density and good heat dissipation, enabling the LED chip to operate at a lower temperature and enhancing the luminous efficiency. The chip has a high degree of integration, which reduces power consumption and improves the overall photoelectric conversion efficiency.
2.Better heat dissipation performance • COB adopts an integrated packaging method, usually with an aluminum substrate or ceramic substrate, which is conducive to the rapid heat conduction and reduces the thermal resistance of the LED chip.
3.Uniform light spot, no ghosting • As multiple LED chips are integrated together, point light sources are consolidated into surface light sources, emitting softer and more uniform light, especially suitable for occasions that require soft lighting (such as shopping malls, home lighting, etc.).
4. More concise structural design • Compared with traditional SMD packaging, COB can reduce the complexity of circuit design, optical design and installation, simplify the structure of lamps and save space.
5. Better color rendering • COB light sources are easy to control in terms of color temperature and color rendering index (CRI), making them suitable for applications with high color rendering requirements, such as art galleries and clothing stores.
6. Longer service life • Due to its excellent heat dissipation and high integration, COB light sources have a relatively long service life under reasonable usage conditions, typically exceeding 30,000 to 50,000 hours.
7. Lower maintenance costs • The integrated packaging reduces the probability of damage, has slow light attenuation and high reliability, and decreases the frequency of replacement and maintenance costs.
